Garden Party

Part of the charm of a garden party can be it’s simplicity. Mismatched chairs or cushions become the style.  Using re-usable plastic plates and glasses keeps anxiety levels low for the host and makes clean up a breeze. Options have come a long way from the old floppy paper plates.

Alternatively you can bring old fashioned elegance outdoors. Use your own dining chairs and set the table with your own crockery and tea cups and saucers to really dress up the table, along with vintage lace tablecloth. You could even carry out a comfy sofa and a pretty rug. A “real” rug at a picnic makes a real impact.

Fairy lights in tree branches, along with paper lanterns, fluffy balls and hanging fans add a soft pretty touch. Candles bring a romantic touch as the sun begins to set.

Remember to provide a few comforts for the environment, such as sunscreen, fly and mosquito spray, a few hats and scarfs to drape over shoulders and laps could come in handy as the temperature heats up or as the sun starts to set.

Buffet style food has come a long way. The way food is displayed has become an art, with surprisingly simple set up.  Use cake stands and containers to display food & drink on different levels.  Use colourful fruit, flowers and small balloons as garnish, centrepieces and even a table runner.

Easy D.I.Y, food & drink stations also suit an outdoor environment.  Think Taco & Margarita Stations and make-your-own Burger & Ice Cream Sundae.

Grazing Boards in the centre of the table and Treat Stands create a visual display with practicality

If you want to step it up an extra level you could hand out Flower Crowns to guests.

Set up a few Lawn Games such as inflatable bowls, boche and croquet, or hire Jumbo Lawn Games like jenga, checkers and darts.
